Shiv Sena-UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for the death of a Noida-based techie whose car fell into a pit at a construction site, calling it a “clear-cut failure” of the system. Chaturvedi highlighted deep flaws in governance and accountability revealed by the government’s response.
She pointed out that complaints about the site’s dangerous conditions and alleged negligence had been previously reported. Chaturvedi accused the government of trying to deflect public anger by announcing a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in response to the incident.
Chaturvedi emphasized the need for accountability and responsibility in such cases of failure. She expressed concern over the government’s actions to reduce public outrage and protect officials rather than addressing the systemic issues leading to the tragic incident.
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav also criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for administrative negligence in the incident. Yuvraj Mehta, the 27-year-old victim, lost his life when his car fell into a water-filled pit near a construction site in Sector 150.
The victim’s father, Rajkumar Mehta, witnessed the tragic incident as rescue efforts were hindered by freezing conditions and poor visibility. Akhilesh Yadav stressed the need to prevent such incidents in the future and called for accountability for the government’s negligence.
The SIT investigating the death has filed a new FIR against builders associated with the construction companies involved in the incident. The SIT is gathering information from various departments of the Noida Authority and is expected to submit its report to the UP government soon.
