Congress Legislature Party leader D.K. Shivakumar, set to become Karnataka’s Chief Minister, expressed gratitude to party workers for their role in his elevation. Shivakumar emphasized that it is the party workers who are truly becoming the Chief Minister, not him personally. He highlighted his long-standing commitment to the party, dating back to his student leader days in 1979.
Shivakumar, alongside former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is scheduled to visit Delhi from Bengaluru International Airport on June 1. He acknowledged the support of his colleague Yathindra Siddaramaiah, emphasizing their ongoing collaboration within the party. Regarding the IPL final relocation, Shivakumar expressed disappointment over the decision, noting that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) deserved to host the match.
The Chief Minister-designate urged party workers not to present garlands made of Sugandharaja flowers during his visits due to his allergy. He explained the need for a simple oath-taking ceremony, limiting the number of attendees. Shivakumar deferred to the party high command on ministerial oath-taking decisions and the composition of the new government.
Arrangements have been made for party leaders to watch the swearing-in ceremony on LED screens at the Congress office. Shivakumar outlined plans to lay foundation stones for 100 party offices across the state post the June 3 ceremony. The construction of the Congress Bhavan near Race Course Road is also on the agenda, pending confirmation of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi’s availability.
