A distressing incident of alleged abuse and mistreatment of toddlers at a daycare center in Bengaluru has been revealed, leading to the filing of an FIR against five staff members. The HAL Police Station has registered the case against employees of the Society General Baby Care Centre located in Brookefield. The accused individuals, identified as Manjula, Vijayalakshmi, Bhavani, Sindhu, and Bindu, are facing legal action.
The FIR has been lodged under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act following a complaint by Tilakesh Kumar, a 32-year-old state government employee residing in K.R. Puram. The alleged abuse came to light after videos and photos depicting children being subjected to physical violence and intimidation at the daycare facility were received by the Child Helpline.
According to the FIR, the accused staff members, entrusted with the care of young children, reportedly used inhumane methods when the children cried or caused disturbances. Shocking allegations in the FIR include incidents where children were placed inside a washing machine to scare them and forced to sit on a western-style toilet with water forcibly inserted into their mouths.
The complaint further alleges that children were punished by being locked inside bathrooms, while distressing videos and images show children in fear at the daycare center. The staff is accused of physically and mentally harassing the minors under their supervision by assaulting them whenever they cried. Upon receiving the complaint and video evidence, Child Helpline officials alerted the HAL Police, who initiated an investigation into the matter.
Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to validate the allegations, analyze the video evidence, and gather statements from relevant individuals. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities are working to ascertain the authenticity of the videos in question.
