The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) recently assessed the readiness for the upcoming surge of pilgrims during the New Year. The review meeting, chaired by Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Executive Officer of SMVDSB, focused on ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience. Various stakeholders, including senior officers, security agencies, and district administration representatives, attended the meeting to discuss comprehensive arrangements.
The Chief Executive Officer directed authorities to enhance Yatra management and security measures, especially along the track and at the Bhawan. Emphasis was placed on regulating the Yatra through RFID-based access control to allow only pilgrims with valid RFID cards. Additional handheld RFID scanners and manpower will be deployed at key checkpoints to prevent any security lapses.
A comprehensive training program at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), SGC Katra, was highlighted during the meeting. Real-time monitoring and surveillance efforts are being intensified, particularly in high-footfall areas, to ensure prompt responses and situational awareness. Fire and Emergency Services will deploy firefighting vehicles strategically and conduct fire safety audits to enhance safety mechanisms in the Shrine area.
Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and disaster preparedness protocols was stressed by the CEO. The conversion of the existing sound system into a Public Address System along the track for timely announcements was also emphasized. Ensuring proper verification of individuals working in private establishments and service operators was directed to maintain sanctity and safety.
Efforts to address traffic congestion due to unauthorized parking in specific areas were discussed, with a focus on coordinated enforcement for smooth vehicular movement. Security agencies briefed on the multi-tier security setup involving police, CRPF, and Shrine Board security personnel, supported by Quick Response Teams for swift action. Advanced surveillance tools for real-time threat assessment were highlighted to ensure a safe and enriching pilgrimage experience for all devotees visiting the Holy Shrine during the New Year period.
