Shubhankar Sharma shot a second consecutive six-under 66 to secure a two-shot lead after round two of the inaugural Rs 1 crore Boulders Classic at the Boulder Hills Golf & Country Club in Hyderabad. The 29-year-old, a six-time DP World PGTI winner, is at 12-under 132, displaying steady and controlled play over the first two days. Divyanshu Bajaj from Kolkata climbed to second place with a seven-under 65, while overnight leader Vishesh Sharma slipped to third at nine-under 135 after a two-under 70 round.
Honey Baisoya set a new course record with an eight-under 64, moving up to tied fourth place at eight-under 136. Ajeetesh Sandhu and Anshul Kabthiyal also share fourth place with Baisoya. Shubhankar Sharma, firing seven birdies against a lone bogey, closed strongly with back-to-back birdies to maintain his lead. Reflecting on his performance, Sharma expressed satisfaction with his game and emphasized the importance of staying calm and seizing opportunities.
Divyanshu Bajaj, a regular on the DP World PGTI since 2010, had a flawless round with an eagle and five birdies. Bajaj highlighted the significance of accurate tee shots on the challenging course. Vishesh Sharma, a local player, continued to impress with his second consecutive eagle on the par-5 14th, showcasing skill and composure. Yuvraj Sandhu, another contender, improved with a four-under 68, placing tied 27th at three-under 141.
The cut for the tournament fell at even-par 144, with 53 players out of 131 advancing to the final rounds.
