India’s Shubman Gill has advanced to the second spot in the latest ICC ODI Batter rankings. Gill’s impressive performances propelled him up three places, placing him just 24 rating points behind the top-ranked Daryl Mitchell.
In Test cricket, New Zealand’s Matt Henry has joined India’s Jasprit Bumrah at the top of the Test Bowling rankings. Henry’s exceptional display, including an 11-wicket haul in the second Test against England, earned him the prestigious No.1 ranking, making him only the third New Zealander to achieve this feat.
The Test batting rankings saw England’s Joe Root reclaiming the No.1 position after his notable scores against New Zealand. Root’s consistent performance helped him move up two places, surpassing his competitors to secure the top spot for the 12th time in his career.
India’s bowlers also made significant strides in the rankings post the ODI series against Afghanistan. Arshdeep Singh climbed 16 places to 22nd among ODI bowlers, while Prasidh Krishna surged 34 spots to joint 58th. All-rounder Washington Sundar also saw a notable rise, moving up 17 places to joint 71st in the same list.
Several New Zealand batters were recognized for their exceptional performances in Test cricket. Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, and Henry Nicholls all made significant jumps in the rankings, showcasing their prowess on the field.
In T20Is, Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Ellis saw improvements in their rankings after a successful series sweep over Bangladesh. Despite Bangladesh’s defeat, Towhid Hridoy, Saif Hassan, and Nasum Ahmed also made notable advancements in the T20I rankings, reflecting their contributions to the game.
