After extensive consultations with the Congress high command regarding the new Karnataka Cabinet, Siddaramaiah and Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar departed New Delhi for Bengaluru on a special flight. The flight, scheduled to depart from the Indira Gandhi International Airport at 7:30 p.m., is expected to land at the HAL Airport in Bengaluru at 10 p.m. The leaders engaged in discussions with the party’s Central leadership in preparation for Shivakumar’s upcoming swearing-in ceremony.
Around 14 Ministers are anticipated to take oath alongside Shivakumar in the initial phase of Cabinet formation, as per sources. However, the official announcement of the inducted Ministers’ names is yet to be made by the Congress leadership. Notably, the Congress leaders refrained from publicizing any details about the final list of Ministers for Karnataka.
The Congress high command has reportedly finalized the names of approximately 12 to 14 Ministers, with ongoing consultations to complete the list. A leader from the oppressed classes in North Karnataka, known to be close to Siddaramaiah, is likely to be given a significant role in the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). The Congress leadership aims to strike a balance between experienced and new leaders in the state Cabinet for effective governance leading up to the 2028 Karnataka Assembly elections.
