Karnataka’s former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been named a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the top decision-making body of the Congress party. This appointment, made by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), is a recognition of his role in ensuring a smooth leadership transition in the state.
The CWC, which is the highest executive authority of the Indian National Congress, holds significant power in shaping the party’s policies and organizational decisions. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge approved Siddaramaiah’s appointment, acknowledging his contribution to the party.
Siddaramaiah’s induction into the CWC is viewed as a form of recognition of his standing within the party. This membership is considered influential, granting leaders authority within the party and a role in shaping national-level political strategies. The move reflects the party leadership’s desire to maintain Siddaramaiah’s influence in national decision-making.
Siddaramaiah is known for his social engineering strategies in Karnataka, particularly the AHINDA alliance, which includes minorities, backward classes, and Dalits. His policies like Anna Bhagya and Indira Canteen have been popular for their inclusivity. Additionally, Siddaramaiah has been vocal in his criticism of Hindutva groups, RSS, and the BJP leadership.
