Caretaker Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at Sonia Gandhi’s residence in New Delhi following his resignation. During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi warmly welcomed Siddaramaiah, exchanging handshakes and hugs for photographs. Siddaramaiah stepped down as Chief Minister amidst significant political changes in Karnataka and will continue as caretaker until further arrangements are made.
The discussions between Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi revolved around Siddaramaiah’s tenure as Chief Minister and the future political direction of the Congress party in Karnataka. The meeting also addressed the leadership transition in the state. Following this, Siddaramaiah engaged in talks with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, accompanied by former state ministers K.J. George and Priyank Kharge, and Legislative Council member Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
After the meeting, Kharge praised Siddaramaiah’s dedication to public service and his commitment to social justice. Dinesh Gundu Rao, a former minister and Congress MLA, lauded Siddaramaiah as a leader who prioritized the welfare of the underprivileged over power. Rao highlighted Siddaramaiah’s initiatives, such as the Anna Bhagya scheme, aimed at ensuring food security for families in Karnataka.
Rao commended Siddaramaiah’s governance, emphasizing his efforts against communal forces and his dedication to fulfilling promises to the people. He rejected claims of a debt crisis in Karnataka under Siddaramaiah’s leadership, calling them politically motivated. Rao expressed optimism that Siddaramaiah would continue to play an active role in politics to uphold peace, communal harmony, and social justice in the state.
