The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is actively investigating the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant at the Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Patna. Following State Home Minister Samrat Choudhary’s directive, Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar formed the SIT, led by Patna Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jitendra Rana. IGP Rana personally visited the hostel, overseeing a thorough examination of the crime scene with the entire SIT present.
The IGP emphasized the importance of the case, directing investigating officers to take strict action against anyone found responsible, ensuring no leniency. The incident unfolded when a female student from Jehanabad district, preparing for the NEET exam, was discovered unconscious in her hostel room and later succumbed to her condition in the hospital on January 11. Allegations of sexual assault by the victim’s family emerged, prompting a closer look into the matter by authorities.
The post-mortem report hinted at the possibility of sexual assault, challenging the initial skepticism of the Patna police officials. Concerns arose regarding the police’s handling of the case, leading to the establishment of the SIT under IGP Jitendra Rana’s leadership. Comprising various police officials, the SIT aims to conduct a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the tragic incident.
