At least six people have died, and six others have been rescued following the collapse of a four-story building in Saidulajab village near Saket metro station in south Delhi. The incident occurred on May 30, with prompt response from the Delhi Police who rescued six individuals from the debris initially. A total of nine people were rescued and shifted to hospitals with the assistance of various agencies including the National Disaster Response Force and the Delhi Fire Service.
A green corridor was set up to ensure smooth ambulance movement from the site to hospitals, with dedicated police teams deployed at medical facilities for immediate care. Sadly, six individuals lost their lives, while seven others are currently receiving treatment, two of whom have been discharged after receiving first aid. The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families after postmortem examinations, with police providing support to the families during this difficult time.
Authorities are actively engaged in rescue operations, with ongoing efforts to assist in relief and recovery. A case of Culpable Homicide has been registered, and investigations are underway to determine the reasons behind the building collapse. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has reviewed the situation and emphasized strict action against unauthorized constructions and those responsible for them. Rescue operations have been ongoing since the incident occurred on Saturday evening.
