Six friends tragically lost their lives, and four others sustained critical injuries in a devastating collision between a Cruiser and a truck at Balagar in the Arabail Ghat section of Yellapura taluk in Karnataka’s Karwar district. The victims, all residents of Dharwad, were on a trip to Dharmasthala and Chikkamagaluru when the accident occurred. The group, which included the driver, worked part-time as delivery executives for Swiggy and had set out from Dharwad the previous night.
According to the police, the truck, traveling from Yellapura to Ankola, crashed into the Cruiser near Balagar, resulting in a severe impact that completely wrecked the passenger vehicle and claimed the lives of six occupants. The deceased individuals have been identified as Basavaraj (48), Abhisheik Eshwar (28), Akshay Mallannanvar (26), Abhishek Mallesh Mudabavi (26), Sanjeeva, and Sanjaya Angadi (30).
The injured, identified as Shivaraj Durgappa Madival, Manjunath Ashok Chulaki, Sachin, and Channabasayya Basalingaiah Sampagaon, were promptly rescued by local residents and taken to a nearby hospital. Currently, all four are in critical condition and receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The Yellapura police immediately responded to the scene, moved the bodies for post-mortem examination, and informed the families of the deceased. A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the tragic accident.
In a separate incident on February 13, seven individuals, including six students, lost their lives in a multi-vehicle accident involving an SUV near Hoskote on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Similarly, on July 8, a heart-wrenching accident resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy and critical injuries to his 25-year-old mother after their two-wheeler collided with a goods auto near the MRPL petrol bunk on the Attibele-Sarjapur Road.
