Six Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in a clash with Afghanistan’s border forces in Spin Boldak district, Kandahar province. The incident was triggered by the killing of an Afghan child by Pakistani military forces, leading to heightened tensions. The clash occurred at a crucial crossing point between the two countries.
According to reports, the clash resulted in the death of six Pakistani soldiers, with one soldier captured and another’s body recovered by Taliban forces. Afghan security forces seized a significant number of light and heavy weapons during the confrontation. Tensions have been escalating between Taliban and Pakistan, resulting in border violence since late February.
Amid the escalating tensions, three civilians, including two women, were injured after Afghan Taliban forces opened fire in South Waziristan. The incident was described as a “failed infiltration attempt by Fitna al-Khawarij militants” by security sources. The clash occurred in the Zlol Khel area of Angoor Adda, where Afghan Taliban forces engaged in unprovoked firing after a foiled infiltration attempt by militants from across the border.
Recent reports suggest that Pakistan’s firm stance against the Afghan Taliban is aimed at countering the growing strategic alignment between Kabul and New Delhi. The Pakistani Defence Minister claimed that the Taliban has transformed Afghanistan into an “Indian colony.” The conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan under Taliban rule has been ongoing since late February, with both sides exchanging threats and engaging in military actions.
