Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani criticized Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for her reaction to the defeat of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha. Irani accused Vadra of being pleased with the Bill’s failure, which aimed to secure 33% reservation for women.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in a press conference, hailed the Bill’s defeat as a “huge victory for democracy,” emphasizing the importance of upholding the federal structure and democracy.
Irani questioned Vadra’s happiness over defeating a Bill that could benefit women from ordinary households, highlighting the Congress’s alleged reluctance towards women’s reservation.
