Several Iranian drones attacked Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport, resulting in injuries and significant damage to the building, as confirmed by the Kuwait Army. The Ministry of Defence spokesperson stated that the armed forces are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to address any further developments.
The Kuwait Army emphasized that the drone attack was a result of “criminal Iranian aggression,” leading to injuries and material damage. They assured that they are in full readiness to handle any emerging situations and will take necessary actions to safeguard the country’s security and stability.
In response to the attack, Kuwait suspended air traffic and activated emergency protocols after the discovery of the Iranian drone at the airport. Flights were redirected to a nearby airport, and air traffic remained halted as authorities evaluated the extent of the damage and initiated repairs to resume operations.
The assault in Kuwait occurred amidst escalating tensions in West Asia following previous US-Israeli strikes on Iran. The conflict resulted in retaliatory drone and missile attacks by Iran on US, Israeli, and allied targets in the region. Despite a ceasefire reached in April, peace talks between Iranian and US delegations have so far failed to produce an agreement, with both sides exchanging proposals to end the conflict.
