Television star turned politician Smriti Irani sent birthday greetings to President Droupadi Murmu on June 20. Irani praised Murmu’s journey from a small village to the highest constitutional office in the country as “extraordinary.” Sharing a photo on her official account, Irani presented a bouquet of yellow roses to the President, commending her inspiring life and public service.
Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff also took to social media to wish the President a happy birthday. Shroff extended warm birthday wishes to President Murmu, hoping for a year filled with good health and peace.
President Droupadi Murmu, the 15th President of India, is known as a trailblazer in Indian politics. She holds the distinction of being India’s first tribal President and the second woman to occupy the nation’s highest constitutional position. Born on June 20, 1958, in Uparbeda village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, she hails from a Santhali tribal family.
Before assuming the presidency in July 2022, President Murmu served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021, making history as the first tribal woman to hold the position in the state. She has also been a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2009, overseeing various ministerial portfolios such as Commerce and Transport, Fisheries, and Animal Resources Development.
