After 55 years, a son of East Midnapore district will ascend to the position of Chief Minister in West Bengal. Suvendu Adhikari, named as the leader of the BJP’s Legislative Party by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is set to take oath at Brigade Parade Grounds in Kolkata. The announcement has sparked excitement across the district, with preparations underway for the historic event.
Initiatives have been launched in East Midnapore to enable residents to witness Suvendu’s oath-taking ceremony. Giant screens have been erected at various locations for live streaming, ensuring widespread access to the significant moment. Party leaders have confirmed the arrangements for the event.
Following the announcement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Suvendu Adhikari proceeded to Lok Bhavan to propose the formation of the new government before Governor R.N. Ravi. The district, from Midnapore to Nandigram, is now enveloped in a celebratory atmosphere. Decorations have adorned Suvendu’s hometown of Contai and his constituency of Nandigram in anticipation of the ceremony.
The festive spirit has gripped the district, with celebrations commencing from Friday night. Residents are actively participating, with microphones amplifying Suvendu’s speeches in various areas. To ensure widespread visibility, giant screens have been installed across the district, including a special arrangement in Contai’s ward number 15 to ensure no one misses the oath-taking moment.
Temples in the district are conducting Yajna ceremonies to seek blessings for Suvendu’s success and future endeavors. BJP workers are joyously engaging with the community, distributing sweets in celebration. Sisir Adhikari, Suvendu’s father and former Union Minister, expressed pride and optimism, emphasizing his son’s commitment to Bengal’s development.
Before departing for the oath-taking ceremony in Kolkata, Sisir Adhikari conveyed his emotions to the media, highlighting the significance of the day. Nandigram BJP leaders Proloy Pal and Meghnath Pal echoed the sentiments, emphasizing the historic nature of the occasion for the people of Nandigram, promising a jubilant celebration.
