Bandi Bhageerath, the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has confessed to sexually assaulting a minor girl. He was arrested and presented before a Magistrate, who ordered him to two weeks of judicial custody, as confirmed by Cyberabad Police. The case was registered on May 8 in Pet Basheerabad Police Station of Cyberabad Commissionerate based on the victim girl’s complaint.
During the investigation, statements from the victim and witnesses were taken by the Investigating Officer. Following the victim’s statement, the charges were modified, including the addition of specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act. Kukatpally Deputy Commissioner of Police Ritiraj was assigned to oversee the investigation.
Efforts were made to apprehend the accused, with multiple teams dispatched to various locations where he was known to frequent. A ‘Look out Circular’ was issued, leading to the arrest of Bhageerath near Tech Park at Manchirevula under Narsingi Police Station limits. After admitting to the offense, Bhageerath was arrested, medically examined, and then remanded to judicial custody by the Magistrate.
