Actress Soni Razdan honored her 97-year-old mother, highlighting her escape from Nazi Germany at the age of six. In a touching post, Soni shared a photo capturing four generations of women in her family, including her mother, herself, her sister, daughter Alia Bhatt, and granddaughter Raha.
The shared image depicted Soni’s mother resting on a bed with Soni beside her, while Alia Bhatt sat next to her grandmother holding little Raha. Soni captioned the post with a message celebrating the strength of women, especially her mother, who fled Nazi Germany at a young age due to her grandfather’s defiance against Hitler.
Soni recounted her mother’s challenging journey from Germany to the UK via Czechoslovakia on a Jewish kinder transport train before settling in India after marrying N.N. Razdan. She emphasized the resilience of women like her mother and encouraged others to share stories of remarkable women they know.
Soni’s mother, Gertrude Hoelzer, originally from Germany, married N.N. Razdan and settled in India. Soni, born to a German mother and Indian father, later married filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. The heartfelt tribute precedes the release of Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film ‘Alpha,’ set to premiere on July 3, directed by Shiv Rawail and featuring Sharvari and Bobby Deol.
