Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Gurugram’s Medanta hospital on Tuesday night for medical procedures. She was discharged the following morning after a routine check-up, as confirmed by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. Concerns have been raised about Sonia Gandhi’s health due to her recent hospital visits.
Two months ago, Sonia Gandhi, aged 79, was hospitalized at Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on March 24 due to complaints of nausea and vomiting. The hospital had reported that she was being treated for a ‘systemic infection’ and was responding well to antibiotics. After almost a week of treatment for fever and systemic infection, she was discharged.
Sonia Gandhi has faced health challenges in the past and has been hospitalized multiple times. Last year in June, she was admitted to Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital in Shimla for high blood pressure while on a visit to Himachal Pradesh. She has also dealt with a fungal infection in her respiratory tract, attributed to Delhi’s pollution levels, for which she underwent a medical procedure.
Sonia Gandhi, a former Congress President, turned 79 in December last year and currently serves as a Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan. Over the years, she has held various parliamentary positions, including serving as a Lok Sabha MP from Amethi and Rae Bareli, before transitioning to the Rajya Sabha. She has also served as the party president.
