Known for his chart-topping hits spanning three decades, Sonu Nigam revisited the early days of his career by reflecting on the recording of ‘Mohabbat Ki Qeemat Ada Hum Karenge’ from the 1993 film “Bewafa Sanam”. Sharing images from the iconic Filmistan Studio Goregaon in Mumbai where the song was recorded, Sonu reminisced about the September 1993 session.
Starting his journey in the early 1990s, Sonu’s first film song was “O Aasmanwale” from Aaja Meri Jaan in 1993. He gained fame with tracks like “Hum To Chhaila Ban Gaye” from Talash and later with hits such as “Accha Sila Diya” and “Sandese Aate Hai”. His album Deewana in 1999 was a major success.
Over his career, spanning more than three decades, Sonu has recorded 6,000 songs in over 32 languages. He has also released several non-film albums and ventured into acting in Hindi films. Honored with the Padma Shri in 2022, Sonu is often referred to as the “Modern Rafi” in tribute to his musical inspiration, Mohammad Rafi.
Making his adult acting debut in 2002 with Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani, a fantasy action thriller, Sonu starred alongside a notable cast. Discussing the film Bewafa Sanam, a musical thriller directed by Gulshan Kumar, it features Krishan Kumar, Shilpa Shirodkar, and other prominent actors in key roles.
