Left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux will miss the rest of the series against India due to lower back pain, as confirmed by Cricket Australia. Nicola Carey will replace her for the remaining matches, marking her 24th ODI appearance. Molineux was set to lead Australia post Alyssa Healy’s retirement after this series.

Sophie Molineux, known for her leadership skills, has faced several injury setbacks in recent years, including a stress fracture and a knee injury. Despite her injury history, Australian selectors have shown confidence in her abilities. Molineux’s absence adds to Australia’s injury concerns, joining Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth on the list.

Alyssa Healy expressed disappointment over Molineux’s injury and mentioned decisions regarding Perry and Garth’s quad injuries will be made soon. Questions have arisen about Molineux’s durability as a captain due to her recurring injuries. Former player Mel Jones highlighted concerns about Molineux’s fitness and its impact on her role in the team.
