Dewald Brevis led South Africa with 42 runs to secure a five-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the Men’s T20 World Cup Super Eights at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Despite a strong start by Sikandar Raza, who dismissed key players early on, South Africa successfully chased down 154 runs.
Brevis played a crucial role, hitting two fours and four sixes in a quick 42-run innings. Although Zimbabwe fought back with key wickets, including Brevis and David Miller, South Africa’s depth in batting proved vital. George Linde and Tristan Stubbs guided South Africa to victory with 13 balls to spare.
South Africa’s unbeaten streak in the tournament continues as they head into the semi-final against New Zealand in Kolkata. Raza’s impressive performance, taking three wickets and scoring 73 runs, was not enough to stop South Africa’s determined chase.
South Africa’s chase faced early setbacks with Raza dismissing Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram quickly. However, Ryan Rickelton’s aggressive play provided momentum before falling to Zimbabwe’s bowling attack. Brevis and Miller then took charge, steering South Africa towards victory despite Zimbabwe’s persistent efforts.
