South Africa’s captain, Laura Wolvaardt, has been honored with the Player of the Month award for December 2025 due to her outstanding performance. Following her success in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, Wolvaardt continued to shine by scoring three centuries in just one month. In the T20I series, she smashed an unbeaten 115 at a remarkable strike rate of 205.35, including 15 boundaries and four sixes.
Wolvaardt’s dominance extended to the ODI series, where she played a crucial role. She began with a steady 31 in the first match and then went on to hit back-to-back centuries. Her remarkable performance included a score of 124 off 111 balls in the second ODI and an unbeaten 100 in the final game, securing a whitewash victory. Throughout the three ODIs, Wolvaardt amassed 255 runs with an impressive average of 127.50 and a strike rate of 111.84. In the T20I series, she scored 137 runs at a rapid strike rate of 190.27, losing her wicket only once.
This marks Wolvaardt’s second Player of the Month Award, having previously won in October 2025. Expressing her joy and gratitude, Wolvaardt stated, “I’m delighted to be named the ICC Player of the Month once again. To win it two times in three months is very special and something I’ll cherish for a long time.” Looking ahead to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, Wolvaardt is focused on maintaining her momentum. She emphasized her commitment to contributing to the team’s success and expressed excitement about the upcoming events in England and Wales.
Wolvaardt surpassed her teammate Sune Luus and November’s winner Shafali Verma to secure this prestigious accolade.
