South Korea’s trade watchdog has decided to impose anti-dumping tariffs on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) paste resin products from Germany, France, Norway, and Sweden. The Korea Trade Commission recommended anti-dumping duties ranging from 25.79 percent to 31.55 percent on these imports. PVC paste resin is a fine-powder resin used in various industrial goods like interior building materials, shoes, and gloves.
The decision follows a complaint filed by South Korean chemical firm Hanwha Solutions Corp. against several European exporters last year. The Korea Trade Commission stated that the dumping of PVC paste resin from the mentioned European countries has caused significant harm to the local industry. Additionally, the commission has initiated an investigation into alleged dumping of steel products by three China-based companies.
South Korea’s trade watchdog had previously made a preliminary decision to impose anti-dumping tariffs on cold-rolled steel products imported from China. The Korea Trade Commission will request the Ministry of Economy and Finance to impose tariffs ranging from 22.34 to 33.67 percent on these steel products until a final ruling is made in September. The investigation into the alleged dumping of these products by Chinese companies was launched following a complaint from Korean firms.
