Two South Korean artificial intelligence services have secured positions in the world’s top 50 most-used generative AI tools, as per a report from Silicon Valley’s Andreessen Horowitz. SK Telecom Co.’s AI personal assistant service, Adot, claimed the 39th spot on the list of most used generative AI web products. Additionally, two AI-powered mobile apps by Naver Corp., Papago, a translation service, and SNOW, a photo editing app, ranked 43rd and 48th, respectively.
The rankings are based on unique monthly visits for web services and monthly active users for mobile apps, both as of January this year. Notably, OpenAI’s ChatGPT emerged as the leading consumer AI product, with significantly higher web traffic and mobile users compared to its closest competitor, Gemini from Google.
ChatGPT’s popularity has soared, with a weekly active user increase of 500 million over the past year, reaching 900 million users by February 27. This user base represents over 10% of the global population. In Western markets like the U.S., Germany, and the U.K., ChatGPT and Gemini were the favored AI tools, while Deepseek gained traction in China and Russia.
Singapore leads in AI adoption, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, and South Korea. Surprisingly, the U.S., a major producer of generative AI products, ranked 20th in AI adoption globally.
