South Korean President Lee Jae Myung concluded a two-day visit to San Francisco focused on enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration before departing for Brazil as part of a South America tour. During his stay in San Francisco, President Lee engaged with top executives from tech giants like OpenAI and Nvidia, advocating for stronger partnerships with South Korean companies in the AI sector.

At a significant meeting, global tech leaders and South Korean tech conglomerates agreed on pursuing cooperation projects valued at a total of USD 950 billion. Notably, a major deal was struck for SK Group to provide high-performance semiconductors worth USD 750 billion to Nvidia and other entities. President Lee emphasized the need for South Korea and the United States to elevate their relationship by broadening cooperation into technology, innovation, and startups.

President Lee highlighted the importance of expanding collaboration beyond the traditional security alliance during discussions with venture capitalists in Silicon Valley. He underscored the potential for creating new global innovators by combining the US’ venture capital strength and global networks with South Korea’s technological prowess and manufacturing competitiveness. Following his San Francisco visit, President Lee will embark on a state visit to Brazil, where he is scheduled to meet with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and participate in a business roundtable in Sao Paulo.
