Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra took a two-shot lead after shooting a six-under 65 in the third round of the 83rd Open d’Italia at Circolo Golf Torino. Chacarra, aiming for his second DP World Tour title this season, is now at 17-under-par, heading into the final round with strong momentum.
Chacarra, who was four shots behind halfway leader Joaquín Niemann, showcased a composed performance in challenging conditions. He started with two birdies and continued to build momentum with more birdies, finishing with a joint-best score for the day among contenders.
Despite the quality of players chasing him, Chacarra remains focused on his own game, emphasizing patience and a disciplined approach. He acknowledged the difficulty of the course due to changing winds and challenging conditions but credited his ability to stay patient and control his game.
Niemann, the overnight leader, dropped into a share of second place after an even-par 71, tying with England’s Matt Wallace at 15-under. The leaderboard tightened as Wallace, with a four-under 67, joined the top contenders, setting up an exciting final round with three players separated by only two shots.
