In Bengaluru, the Special Court for MLAs/MPs accepted the closure report related to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. This decision is considered a boost for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah amidst ongoing leadership disputes in the state. The court granted relief to the primary accused, CM Siddaramaiah, along with his wife, brother-in-law, and a landowner, while ordering further investigation against other accused individuals.
Activist Snehamayi Krishna has appealed against the closure report concerning CM Siddaramaiah. The court approved the closure report filed by the investigating officer against Siddaramaiah and others, emphasizing that the probe against remaining accused parties will continue. Additionally, the court rejected an application for contempt of court proceedings against the investigating officer.
The court acknowledged the right of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to intervene in the case to a limited extent. It directed the return of certain files to the investigating officer for the final report filing on February 9. The ED, Bengaluru Zonal Office, has attached proceeds of crime worth Rs 460 crore under the PMLA, 2002, in connection with the scam involving illegal site allotments by MUDA.
