The Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) National Convention 2026 is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from March 13 to 16. This event marks the return of the prestigious annual gathering to the national capital after a gap of 23 years. Organized by the Delhi Sports Journalist Association (DSJA), the convention will also commemorate the Golden Jubilee of SJFI, making it a significant edition in its history.
SJFI, affiliated with the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), will bring together sports journalists from various zones in India, along with key figures from Indian sports, administration, and broadcasting. Supported by major industry stakeholders and renowned brands, the 2026 edition is anticipated to be the largest and most impactful in the federation’s history.
The four-day National Convention will blend professional discussions with sporting events and networking opportunities. The program includes a Grand Sports Conclave with top administrators and Olympic icons, the JK Bose Inter-Zonal T20 Cricket Tournament, the AC Bali Table Tennis Tournament, family and youth engagement activities like the Modern Pythian Games, and a grand Finals and Closing Ceremony attended by distinguished dignitaries.
Abhishek Tripathi, president of DSJA, expressed readiness for the event, emphasizing the significant participation of sports personalities from across the country. The Grand Sports Conclave will witness the presence of influential names in Indian sports and administration. Saraju Chakraborty, SJFI president, highlighted the convention as a pivotal moment in the federation’s journey, reflecting on its legacy and future in sports journalism.
The Golden Jubilee edition of the National Convention will commemorate 50 years of SJFI’s contributions to Indian sports journalism, acknowledging the profession’s evolution across different media platforms. The event is expected to be a milestone edition with strong support from major brands and institutions, attracting senior government officials, Olympic icons, and key stakeholders from the Indian sports landscape.
