Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu has seen a significant rise in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings following her exceptional performances. Athapaththu, who was named Player of the Series in Sri Lanka’s 3-0 victory over Bangladesh, scored 115 runs and took four wickets, showcasing her all-round skills ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup starting on June 12.
Her outstanding display has propelled her three places up to 41st in the T20I bowlers’ rankings and two spots up to third in the all-rounders’ list. She now stands ahead of India’s Deepti Sharma and Australia’s Ash Gardner, with only New Zealand’s Melie Kerr and West Indies’ Hayley Matthews ahead of her in the all-rounders’ standings.
Several other Sri Lankan players have also seen improvements in the rankings. Harshita Samarawickrama has moved up to joint 20th in the T20I batting rankings, Imesha Dulani has climbed 23 spots to 49th, Kavisha Dilhari advanced to 17th in the bowling rankings, and Malki Madara now sits at 44th.
Despite Bangladesh’s series loss, some of their players have made gains in the rankings. Sharmin Akhter Supta is now 37th among T20I batters, while Dilara Akter and Shorna Akter have risen to 55th and joint 62nd, respectively. In the bowling rankings, Sultana Khatun has made a significant jump, climbing 48 places to 38th.
In the ODI rankings, Pakistan players have also seen improvements after their dominant performance against Zimbabwe. Sidra Amin has moved up to 11th in the ODI batting rankings, Sadaf Shamas gained 12 spots to reach 72nd, Nashra Sandhu is now 11th among bowlers, and captain Fatima Sana rose to equal 26th. Sana also climbed two places to 15th in the ODI all-rounders’ rankings.
