Ace director S S Rajamouli has officially announced that the highly anticipated movie ‘Varanasi’, featuring actor Mahesh Babu in the lead role, is set to premiere worldwide on April 7 next year. The film’s release date was confirmed by Rajamouli himself after initial speculations surfaced earlier. Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu both shared the release date poster on their social media timelines, setting the date for April 7th, 2027.
The movie, initially known as ‘GlobeTrotter’, had its title revealed at a grand event held at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad in front of a massive gathering of enthusiastic fans. The event, which witnessed thousands of fans in attendance, was considered a unique spectacle in the Indian entertainment industry. Featuring an enormous stage and a large screen, the event marked one of the biggest live fan gatherings in Indian cinema history.
Not only has the film’s title been unveiled, but the makers have also introduced the characters played by Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj, and Priyanka Chopra. Prithviraj portrays the antagonist Kumbha, while Priyanka Chopra takes on the role of Mandakini. Mahesh Babu’s character in the film is named Rudhra. Director Rajamouli shared insights into a significant episode filmed for ‘Varanasi’, emphasizing its importance and impact on the overall narrative.
Rajamouli expressed his excitement about incorporating elements from the Ramayana into the movie, citing it as a dream project. The director highlighted the emotional experience of witnessing Mahesh Babu embody the character of Rama during the shoot, underscoring the dedication and effort put into creating memorable sequences.
