A State Reserve Police (SRP) jawan, Rajendrasinh Gohil (49), from SRP Group-9 in Vadodara, died by suicide at the New Secretariat complex in Gandhinagar. Gohil was on duty at Gate No. 3 of the Secretariat premises when the incident occurred. His body was found hanging from a tree near the gate by a fellow jawan who was searching for him after he was missing from his post.

The discovery was made around 5 A.M. on Tuesday, following the incident that took place late Monday night. The Sector-7 Police Station team arrived at the scene promptly after being informed. The body was taken down and sent for a post-mortem examination at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital. Inspector A.G. Solanki mentioned that the body was found in the morning after Gohil could not be located by his colleague.

Investigations are ongoing, with statements being recorded, including those from family members. The cause of the suicide is currently under scrutiny, with no suicide note recovered yet. Authorities are exploring all possible factors, both personal and work-related, to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, treating it as an accidental death. The heavily secured government premises are now subject to forensic examination, with further details anticipated post the post-mortem and completion of the inquiry.
