Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has reported its highest-ever cumulative sales for the April to January period of the current financial year. The company sold a total of 16.6 million tonnes of steel during this timeframe, marking a significant 16% increase from the previous year’s 14.3 million tonnes. This achievement represents the best sales performance in SAIL’s history for these months, with January also recording the company’s best-ever sales figures.
The company attributes its success to record dispatches from plants, increased door delivery volumes, and enhanced warehouse sales. By focusing on customer-centricity and logistics efficiency, SAIL deepened its market penetration. In January 2026 alone, the company sold 1.84 million tonnes of steel, surpassing the previous year’s sales by over 10%.
SAIL’s strong sales performance not only reduced its inventory by approximately 0.25 million tonnes but also led to a significant decrease in borrowings, thereby improving its financial position. The company highlights that these record achievements span various areas such as sales, dispatches, cash collections, and customer deliveries.
The company’s efforts to increase the volume of steel delivered directly to customers’ locations, expand warehouse-based sales, and enhance dispatches from its plants underscore its commitment to improving logistics and customer service. The marketing team played a pivotal role in achieving these results by expanding market reach and meeting business targets. With sustained growth and robust operational performance, SAIL continues to play a vital role in India’s infrastructure and industrial development.
