Activists from Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) protested at the Union Ministry of Education, demanding accountability and reforms in the examination system. They highlighted the repeated failures of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and called for structural changes. Bhim Kumar, a KYS member, mentioned that some activists were detained by the police during the protest.
The KYS urged the Union Government and the Education Ministry to apologize publicly for the chaos and demanded the resignation of the Education Minister. They emphasized the mismanagement that has jeopardized students’ futures. The NTA recently canceled the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) due to a paper leak, adding to a series of similar incidents in the past.
On May 30, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) faced disruptions nationwide, including technical glitches and delays. This led to confusion and inconvenience for students and parents at various examination centers. The NTA’s negligence and lack of proper management have caused immense hardship for lakhs of students, affecting their examination experience negatively.
Authorities have been criticized for their failure to address the repeated examination scandals effectively. The NTA’s performance has been questioned, especially regarding the NEET-UG paper leak scandal and corruption allegations. Despite ongoing irregularities in various national-level entrance tests, accountability within the NTA remains unresolved. The commercialization of education and the influence of the coaching industry have further complicated the examination system’s integrity.
