A tragic incident occurred at a Gurukul school near Ballari where a Class 9 student allegedly attacked fellow hostel mates with an iron rod. The attack, which took place late at night, resulted in the death of one student and injuries to seven others.
The hostel warden and a driver were also among those injured in the assault. Police have detained the accused, who was acquainted with both the attacker and the victims. The attack, believed to have stemmed from a minor dispute, occurred while the students were asleep after dinner.
Teams from the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have been dispatched to gather evidence at the scene. The injured students were promptly taken to the Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) hospital in Ballari for medical attention.
The accused allegedly struck multiple students with the iron rod and also assaulted the hostel warden before fleeing. The victim’s family has raised concerns about the incident, disputing the school’s account of the attack. They suspect a stabbing rather than an iron rod assault and are demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.
Police have initiated a case in response to the incident, and investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the tragic event.
