A Class 12 student from Saudi Arabia has approached the Supreme Court, seeking the release of his Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Improvement Examination results. The student, Pransu Jigarkumar Patel, highlighted that his results have not been declared despite a special assessment scheme being in place for students affected by exam cancellations in West Asian countries. Patel expressed concerns over the impact on his higher education opportunities due to the delay.
Patel, who appeared as a private candidate for the CBSE Class 12 Improvement Examination, 2026, from Al Jubail in Saudi Arabia, faced exam cancellations for subjects like Mathematics, English, and Computer Science due to regional tensions. Despite the CBSE’s assessment scheme for affected regions, Patel’s result was not announced when the Class 12 results were declared on May 13, leaving his status as “R.L. (Result Later).”
The student’s plea highlighted that despite multiple requests to the CBSE for result declaration or permission to take a special exam, there has been no response. This delay has significantly impacted Patel’s academic future, especially concerning his admission to a university for a B.Tech program in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. The petitioner emphasized that the authorities’ inaction has hindered his admission process and application to other institutions, alleging violations of his constitutional rights.
Patel, having initially approached the Delhi High Court without success, has now turned to the Supreme Court for urgent intervention. Through his advocate Vineet Jindal, he has requested the CBSE to release his Class 12 Improvement Examination result based on the assessment scheme for West Asian countries. Alternatively, the plea seeks directions for conducting special exams for the cancelled subjects and the necessary follow-up actions.
