Title holder Stuttgart secured a spot in the DFB-Pokal final for the second year in a row thanks to Tiago Tomas’ 119th-minute goal, leading to a 2-1 victory over Freiburg in extra time. The match saw limited early opportunities, with both teams struggling to break through. Freiburg took the lead in the 28th minute through Maximilian Eggestein’s goal from a set piece.

Stuttgart intensified their efforts before halftime, with several close attempts, but it was not until the 70th minute that they equalized through Deniz Undav’s goal. The game remained tense, with chances on both ends, until Tomas’ late backheel secured Stuttgart’s win in extra time. The victory sets up a final clash with Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich on May 23 in Berlin.

Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness expressed his joy at the hard-fought victory, praising both teams for their efforts. He highlighted his team’s gradual control of the game and the deservedness of their place in the final. Hoeness also expressed relief at avoiding a penalty shootout, emphasizing the challenging nature of the match.
