Another Sudanese national in Hyderabad has been moved to an isolation center due to suspected Ebola symptoms. The individual, who arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, was taken to Gandhi Hospital for isolation. He is pursuing higher studies at a private university in the city.
His contact has also been isolated at Gandhi Hospital for screening, making him the second Sudanese national with suspected Ebola symptoms. Health authorities are taking precautionary measures by sending contacts to government hospitals. The individual was flagged during thermal screening at the airport due to a body temperature of 100 degrees F.
Doctors have placed him under observation in the isolation ward and sent samples for testing at government-designated laboratories. Despite not showing common Ebola symptoms like vomiting or diarrhea, his blood, urine, and swab samples are being tested. If results are negative, he may undergo home isolation; if positive, treatment will follow protocol.
Gandhi Hospital, a nodal center for Ebola preparedness, has set up a dedicated ward with isolated rooms and quarantine beds. The hospital is actively screening travelers from African countries at the airport, including Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha reported that 58 travelers from Ebola-affected countries had arrived in Hyderabad, all under surveillance and home isolation as a precaution.
