Two police personnel were killed and six others injured in a suicide attack on a police check post near the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border in Pakistan. The attack, which occurred in the Wahwa area, caused extensive damage to the check post as an explosives-laden vehicle was rammed into its main gate. District Police Officer Muhammad Sadiq Baloch confirmed the casualties, stating that two officers lost their lives while six others sustained serious injuries.
The suicide bomber involved in the attack also died in the explosion. Following the incident, a search operation was initiated in the area, with heavy police and security presence to gather evidence. The blast not only destroyed the check post structure but also caused damage to nearby houses, injuring over a dozen local residents. Investigations into the attack are ongoing, as confirmed by Sadiq Baloch.
In a separate incident last week in Bannu district, armed assailants fatally shot two police personnel in different attacks. One constable was attacked while returning home after an event, while another was shot outside his residence. The security situation in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, has deteriorated, as reported by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). The monthly security assessment revealed a significant increase in militant activities, including attacks, casualties, and kidnappings.
