Sukhbir Badal, the President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has kickstarted the election campaign for the 2027 Assembly polls with pledges to support farmers, provide interest-free loans to youth, ensure government jobs exclusively for Punjabis, and eradicate gangster culture and drug mafia.
Badal accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of corruption, claiming he owns 2,500 acres of land in Australia and is planning to compromise state river waters, particularly regarding the SYL canal issue.
He emphasized the importance of safeguarding Punjab’s interests, criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party for not advocating for the state at the national level and accusing them of selling Rajya Sabha seats to the highest bidders.
Badal expressed confidence in the return of SAD in 2027, highlighting the party’s commitment to restoring peace, progress, and prosperity in Punjab. He outlined various promises, including quick tubewell connections for farmers, infrastructure improvements for flood control, land rights grants, and enhanced social welfare schemes.
The SAD President also pledged to provide affordable food items, financial assistance for weddings, increased old-age pensions, job opportunities for youth, and educational reservations for meritorious students in both government and private institutions.
