Sunit Chowrasia made a successful comeback from injury, securing a one-shot win at the INR 25 lakh Alpha Sports Academy Golf Championship 2026 in Patna. The Kolkata-based golfer, nephew of SSP Chawrasia, clinched his first title with a total score of seven-under 209 for the tournament, moving up to sixth place in the 2026 DP World PGTI NexGen Order of Merit.

Bipin Mukhiya finished as the runner-up with a score of six-under 210, earning him the top spot in the NexGen merit list. Divesh Rana, Vinay Kumar Yadav, and Rajesh Kumar Gautam shared the third position at three-under 213, while Md Nawab secured tied 13th place at one-over 217.

Chowrasia, who had been sidelined due to injury for over three years, displayed resilience in the final round despite not being in top form. He managed to maintain his lead over competitors with a steady performance, emphasizing the importance of patience and seizing birdie opportunities during high-pressure situations.

Reflecting on his victory, Chowrasia expressed gratitude for the confidence boost the win provided after his prolonged absence from competitive golf. He highlighted the significance of his overall game improvement and self-belief, aiming to carry this momentum into future events. Amandeep Johl, CEO of Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), commended the tournament’s success at the Patna Golf Club, underscoring the platform it offered for emerging Indian golf talents.
