Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been boosted by the arrival of their captain, Pat Cummins, in Hyderabad before their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. Cummins, who shared an Instagram post with his family at a restaurant, expressed his happiness at being back in Hyderabad but will not participate in the match.
Having returned to India before the season, Cummins had to fly back to Australia after SRH’s win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 2 for a back scan. The Australian Test captain has now passed his fitness test and aims to make his season debut on April 25 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur.
Cummins, who last played during the Ashes series against England, missed the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 as well. In his absence, SRH has seen success with debutant fast bowlers Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, who both took four-wicket hauls against RR recently.
Ishan Kishan is leading SRH in Cummins’s absence, with the team winning two out of five matches so far this season. Positioned fourth in the points table with a +0.576 net run rate, SRH aims to capitalize on their victories against KKR and RR as they face CSK at home.
