Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to receive a significant boost in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign with their captain, Pat Cummins, likely rejoining the squad on April 17. Cummins, who has been away, is expected to undergo a fitness test on April 14 in Australia. If he passes the test, there is optimism that he could start playing for the team, reuniting with them in Hyderabad on April 17.
Sources close to the development have expressed hope that Cummins will clear the fitness test and receive the necessary clearance from Cricket Australia. The Australian fast bowler has been absent from competitive matches since the Ashes series against England and also missed the recent ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Ishan Kishan has been leading the SRH team in Cummins’ absence, guiding them to two victories out of five matches in the current season. Despite the challenges, SRH is currently positioned fourth in the points table with four points and a net run rate of +0.576. In a recent match, SRH defeated Rajasthan Royals with an impressive bowling performance by debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, who each claimed four wickets.
