The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, criticized the rise in assaults on the judiciary and legal framework. During a hearing on a petition challenging the Delhi High Court’s decision on senior designation, the Court expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in reconsidering applications. The Chief Justice emphasized that senior designation is an honor bestowed by the court, not to be pursued persistently through litigation.

The Chief Justice cautioned against individuals undermining institutions through social media, labeling them as “parasites.” He also raised concerns about certain individuals, likening them to “cockroaches,” who turn to activism after failing in their professions. The Court expressed doubts about the authenticity of law degrees held by some lawyers and hinted at a possible probe in the future.

CJI Surya Kant highlighted the presence of lawyers on online platforms and acknowledged the circulation of content on platforms like Facebook and YouTube. Following a plea withdrawal by the petitioner, the Court dismissed the case after initially criticizing the conduct and repeated filings of the lawyer.
