Surat district authorities have mobilized 65 extra survey teams to expedite the evaluation of flood-affected areas in the city. This initiative aims to ensure prompt financial assistance to affected residents following heavy rainfall and tidal flooding. Under the leadership of District Collector Tejas Parmar, the surveys are being conducted to assess casualties, injuries, and property damages swiftly.
To enhance the assessment process, 13 officers from the State Tax Department, along with their staff, have been involved in the operation. This effort has led to the formation of 65 new teams, comprising 338 officers and employees. These teams have been specifically designated to Udhna and Majura, the areas most severely impacted by the floods.
The newly deployed personnel have been instructed to commence field surveys without delay. In addition to the recent reinforcement, more officers and staff may be deployed in the future if necessary. The district administration is optimistic that the increased workforce will expedite the verification process, enabling eligible beneficiaries to receive relief aid promptly.
Meanwhile, the distribution of financial assistance to flood-affected families continues. As of Saturday evening, a total of 2,877 beneficiaries across six affected talukas had received over Rs 65.21 lakh in financial aid. Cash doles and compensation for household damages have been provided to eligible families, with Udhna receiving the highest share of assistance.
