The administration in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, has started a survey following complaints of illegal encroachment on cemetery land near the Jama Masjid. Tehsildar Dhirendra Pratap Singh mentioned that shops and houses were allegedly constructed unlawfully on the 4,000 square meter plot numbered 32. The ongoing survey aims to assess the extent and nature of construction on the cemetery land, suspected to include shops and houses.

A team of 20 revenue officials is conducting the survey based on old revenue records, particularly the NZA record that also verifies the existence of the Jama Masjid. Any illegal encroachment discovered during the survey will face strict legal action, as emphasized by officials. To ensure a smooth process, a substantial police presence led by Additional Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh and Circle Officer Alok Bhati has been deployed at the site.

Security measures include continuous monitoring using weapons, CCTV cameras, and drones to prevent any disturbances. ASP Kuldeep Singh confirmed the active police deployment, with SHOs from multiple police stations, inspector-rank officers, and units like PAC, RRF, and LIO present. The area is under surveillance through drone cameras and the I-CCC, with a social media monitoring unit to counter misinformation and maintain peace.
