Star cricketer Suryakumar Yadav has arrived in Raipur to join the Mumbai Indians team just hours before their crucial IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium. Despite welcoming his daughter Riddhima on May 7, there were doubts about his availability for the match. Suryakumar was seen distributing sweets to the media at the Mumbai airport before departing for Raipur to mark the birth of his daughter.
Suryakumar, who led India to victory in the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, has had a tough time in the IPL 2026 season, scoring only 195 runs in 10 matches. His presence is vital for Mumbai Indians as they are currently in ninth place with just three wins, making the match against RCB crucial for their playoff chances. The team is also keeping an eye on skipper Hardik Pandya’s fitness, who missed the previous game due to back spasms.
After the face-off with RCB in Raipur, Mumbai Indians will travel to Dharamsala for a match against Punjab Kings on May 14, followed by a game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on May 20. The league stage will conclude with a day game against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on May 24.
