Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, criticized the Trinamool Congress government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging ‘atrocities’. Adhikari voiced these concerns during his visit to campaign in the Bhabanipur constituency ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. The elections in West Bengal are set to take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with results expected on May 4.
Adhikari, who is contesting from the Bhabanipur constituency, highlighted the grievances of hawkers, taxi drivers, and small shopkeepers against Mamata Banerjee’s administration. He claimed that these individuals expressed their discontent and sought his intervention. Adhikari emphasized his commitment to addressing their issues and providing assistance, stating that he was there to support them.
During interactions with the media, Adhikari alleged that the Trinamool Congress had stationed 20 workers in the area before his arrival to disrupt his campaign efforts. He interpreted their departure before his arrival as a positive sign. Adhikari asserted a call for change, citing a shift in voter sentiment towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and anticipating a significant electoral impact in the upcoming polls.
