Taiwan’s Ministry of Defence strongly criticized China’s recent military exercises involving air, navy, and rocket troops near the island. The Ministry expressed opposition to the actions of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, emphasizing that such drills jeopardize regional peace. This condemnation follows the US approval of a significant arms deal worth over $10 billion for Taiwan, prompting Beijing to demand an end to the arming of Taiwan.
The Ministry of Defence disclosed that it has placed its forces on high alert in response to the presence of two PLA aircraft sorties, nine PLA ships, and two government vessels around the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan’s armed forces are actively monitoring these activities and are prepared to defend the island using various resources, including aircraft, ships, and missile systems.
In a separate statement, Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry also criticized the Chinese military maneuvers and reiterated its support for the country’s armed forces in facing these provocations. The Ministry emphasized its commitment to regional peace and stability while condemning the threats posed by China’s actions. Taiwan continues to assert its sovereignty despite China’s claims and efforts to reunify the island with Beijing.
